The Selwyn River... a place of legends... now past. The Selywn starts in the hills behind Glentunnel and flows into the Lake Ellesmere to the south of Christchurch, it's a foothill river, and when conditions are right it can provide good fishing for Brown Trout in particularly the lower section at Lake Ellsemere, with some fish at times in the upper reaches. Runs dry in the middle reaches most of the time.
