Casting Tip and a neat little trick

Long leaders left on the reel will curl up a bit, so before you start fishing it's a good idea to give them a stretch to remove the curl.

I just stretch them by hand, but that can burn your thumb if you hold too tight so be careful! Just do it section by section until the whole length is done.

Then while fishing, carry the leader by hooking it up on the 2nd or 3rd guide down from the rod tip, and take the leader back around the base of the reel then tighten it up to take the slack out.

Then the neat trick is, when you spot your next fish, and are ready to cast again, loosen the tension on the leader, remove from around the base of the reel, let it drop so it hangs down just conected at the guide still. Two sharpish taps on the rod blank and the fish will likely pop off the guide and away you go!
