Central South Island
The Central South Island is a region of wide open spaces, flat open high country tussock basins running up to steep mountain ranges, where rivers start their lives deep within the Southern Alps. The Mckenzie Basin is a well know destination for the fly angler with good numbers of fish. The region has many excellent stillwaters in both the Mckenzie basin and above the Ashburton gorge. The eastern farming areas offer low country willow lined stream and river fishing. Salmon migrate up the big snow fed rivers of the Rangitata and Waitaki | |||||
