FlyLab Focus Reel - Thank you for the great customer service and prompt delivery of my order to the USA. There are a couple of disappointments with the new Focus euro nymph reel: 1) tightening up of the drag negatively impacts the free spin of the reel on a slap retrieve of any loose line. The tighter the drag, the less free spin capability., and 2) the spool does no fit tightly into the frame and therefore easily wobbles when you hold the reel and try and flex the spool within in the frame (more than any reel I have ever held). This is a sure sign of problems in the design and machined tolerances in manufacturing. If this can be corrected, the Fly Lab Focus would be a very good reel.

20/20 - Wow. Even in bright sunny conditions these low light lenses are amazing. I can see so much more detail than with copper colour lenses. Only thng that could be improved on is the quality of the neck strap which is stiff, hard and small diameter.

Good fly - Catch a dozen browms on this fly on lake Wakatipu it's still holding together ready for another dozen

Great but still needs a few extras - This vest so far has been a good companion on the river with the ability of taking a full day’s gear and food in the integrated backpack and lots of pockets upfront for the stuff on the go, however when not using the pack space would of been nice to compress the top section in so it doesn’t flop around, other than that it was a good purchase.

Hooks - A very good strong hook, I use this for flytying various flys and it has never let me down

Comfortable grippy boots - Ordered the new Orvis Pro as a replacement for my Simms boots. I’m really happy with these Orvis boots. The BOA system makes for easy on, easy off convenience. The boots a very comfortable. I ordered one size larger that my normal shoe size and the fit is perfect. They provide good support and protection from rocks and boulders. The grip has been the best I’ve experienced from rubber soles. They are light weight enough to take me for large long walks sometimes required to find fish. Highly recommended so far. We’ll see how they stand up to expected wear over time, but so far they appear to be very well constructed and durable with no apparent failure points. Highly recommend.

Tactical taper - Is a very good line for dry flies and smaller nymphs. It roll casts very well and the ridged line shoots very well
