Explorer Fly Reel and 40 Plus Floating Line
The Airflo Switch Rods are the perfect cross over between a two handed fly rod and a single hander. Whilst being light enough to cast with one hand if needed, the rods also feature an extended fore and rear grip so the rod can be cast with two hands. Featuring a smooth casting action in a lightweight but powerful design the Airflo Switch is a perfect rod for making effortless roll or Spey casts accross large rivers such as the Tongariro or the larger Canterbury rivers like the Rakaia.
- High density mid modulus graphite blanks
- Quality extended rear and foregips with attractive rubber cork trims.
- SIC stripper guides and oversized single foot snakes.
- Cordura rod tube with cloth bag.
- Obsidian blank and binding colour with silver accents.

What Fly Line Should I use on this Rod?
There are a number of ways you can go for lines for this rod, each of which will suit different purposes. As a floating line for spey casting and swinging streamers off the Airflo Switch a 40+ Floating line is the way to go. Conversely if you are wanting to nymph with this rod on large rivers like the Tongariro then we recomend the Ridge Ego. In both of these floating lines we recomend a #8 line for overhead casting, but if you are wishing to focus more on roll and Spey casting then recomend you move up to a #9 to create a greater load on your rod.
As an alternative system the Airflo Switch performs extremely well with a 390grain Skagit Compact Head, this system will allow you to fish a variety of sinking tips off the rod enabling you to swing a wet fly through a variety of pools of differing depth and current speed.
