About your
Fishing Licence;
The New
Zealand Fishing licence fee is used to fund the management
of the New Zealand sports fishery. Very cheap at $105.00 per
year when you consider what you get!
You must have
purchased and signed your Fishing Licence before you start
fishing and you must have your fishing licence with you at
all the times you are fishing or carrying assembled fishing
gear.
NB If you
have purchased your licence over the Internet or the 0800
telephone service, and you wish to fish before you have
received it, you need to carry some form of identification,
ie a driver's licence. That's so that if a ranger asks you
for your fishing licence you can prove who you are and your
fishing licence id which you should receive when purchasing
the licence.
Your fishing
licence can be used in any area administered by Fish and
Game New Zealand except for the Taupo Fishing
District in the Central North Island which is administer by
DOC. For more
information on fishing regulations in Taupo and Taupo
fishing licences visit DOC
here.
Fishing
Licences are not upgradeable, exchangeable or refundable.
Report lost or stolen fishing licences to your local fish
and game office and they'll issue you with a replacement.

Your licence
is a permit to fish for sports fish in accordance with the
regulations set out by Fish and Game New Zealand for the
particular region in which you are fishing.
NB The
Fishing Licence does not grant or infer any rights of access
over land. If you want to walk over private
land, please first get the permission of the land occupier.
If you are a
family licence holder remember this licence allows families
to fish together;. At all times the members
of the family of the principle licence holder must be
fishing close enough for them to direct a ranger to you in
the event they are asked to produce their licence. Family
members may not fish unless accompanied by the primary
licence holder.
If any of the
fish you catch have tags attached to them, please return all
tags together with details (length, weight, location, and
method of capture) to your local Fish and Game New Zealand
office. This information is essential to allow Fish and Game
New Zealand to effectively manage the fishery. |
