Talking and listening to mattyd and seeing what he has written on rotoiti really got me thinking........its time to head home and fish the places i lived over the years. My old man was a fishing and hunting nut so the places we seemed to shift to over the years seem to have great fishing grounds(fresh or salt) with some great hills to disapear into. I had no appreciation for it as i was to young and by the time i was old enough to learn to ff we made our final move to rotorua.
My first ever fish was at my home town of greymouth man i miss that place.Sitting on the wharf catching massive red & blue cod on spratt rods with the old man and my sister was a highlight along with the town either meeting at the wharf to watch the fishing boats try come though the bar in a storm(i remember the day one boat didnt make it) or my old man racing out the door waders in hand as the town flooded to meet everyone at the pub the first place to get sand bagged  (good on you mate)

we moved to a few other places over the years then to taumaranui, after finding the whangnui river last year on the way in i came into taumaranui, i placed a call to the old man asking why the hell would he move me away from this ff paradise

i have been pining to get back to what i feel is home for the last ten years with no success due to one thing or another

so i have made a plan to take a couple of weeks off and head my way south either late this year or early next year, the goal to make this happen is to finally quit smoking if anything is going to do it it's the thought of heading home and standing in water my old man fished 40 years ago.

So watch out trout in the south .....................ima coming
