Ring the regional council and also follow up with an email and copy of this photo with all specifics.

Is that illegal for farmers to have cows crossing the water like that?
I saw that 2 times during my trip to NZ.

I saw that 2 times during my trip to NZ. In the past it hasn't been, only being non-compliant if any damage is caused to the streambed or bank. But I heard there are new rules coming in to place in a months time excluding all animals from all waterways. Don't know quite how that would work. Dan A few of us from our F & G Council had a meeting with the Directors of Fonterra recently. It was enlightening to hear what they as a business are prepared to do to help. One of their policies is that within one year all their suppliers will have all waterways fenced off from stock.

Quentin were those cows grazing there, (looks like they have been as the grass looks grazed) or was the farmer just moving them across?
Seems if it was the latter it maybe is just a one off, different though if thay are grazing in there I think.
