Read through most of the Southland District Council staff report. I've never read such a biased report. It is very clear that the writer is an employee of the applicant. Anyone else read it?
One bit that got to me was when the writer considered that in his opinion the rock groyne wall approx 300 metres long and bridges over the river were in keeping with the developed farmland to the west of the river and not adversely affecting the scenery!

I'd certainly like to attend but am at the wrong end of the Island and will be working. Very keen to hear how the proponents portray this. I agree with Stony that any guide making use of this river should be there if at all possible and I'm sure those of you handy who can will make the effort. They will try to roll this their way and if opponents are not on hand it will go ahead unchanged.

I will be taking 3 days off, but after all it is for a very meaningful cause, one much more important then money. The negative impacts of this project to anglers, guides and their clients will be long lasting. This is our last opportunity to say no!

I wish I could have attended this hearing, in sweden so it is kind of hard to get there.
I hope that we get as many of us that are against this to attend the meeting, will be needed to put some pressure on them. This valley has to be protected from shit like this.
Chris, I got the email about this hearing at around end of march.

If you have made a submission and wished to be heard, but can't make it due to other commitments, a representative can be elected to speak for you at the hearing.

I would attend, but I am feeling somewhat burnt out after going through this whole process with the Flat Hill Windfarm which I submitted my support for. My biggest frustration was that those opposing provided no alternatives, just a flat out "not here".
Are the opponents of this cycle trail providing alternatives?
This is just a question, I have no intention of beginning an argument about alternatives and such
