I was playing around with a long tailed wee wet as a small bully pattern, I have used some woodcock feathers like the type used to tie a Lord's Killer. The results are promising but I don't have many left! I have browsed around but haven't seen them available in shops and catalogues so far... Dos anyone know if you can still get them or have some they don't use and would be interested to sell even???

Veniards?
Try grouse as a sub. Darker but still a nice look..

Mike, I have the leftovers of a very small packet that you're welcome to. It won't tie many, but at least you can play around a bit more.
PM me your address and I'll pop them into the post.

For those who may not be entirely sure which feather's I'm on about...

Great coloration for a wee bully pattern in the 30-35mm range...

How about dying some partridge feathers with a tan? Not quite the same but a similar effect.
And another good sub if you can find some and depending on the size you want, could be thrush......

I do need some light tan dye at some point... this might just be a good reason I did find them under Veniards by the way...

I just realized I have a few pigeon feathers that will be light enough to take a tan dye? A little play around with some marker pens might just do the trick???

The Pro marker pens I got from Steve have been good for colouring mallard flank feathers etc.

I have those too Webby... just need to play around, I have liked the results I have had with Rit dye but need a nice tan and a light olive... not quite good enough to 1/4 the amount of dark olive
