Hey guys, new to the forum and have just moved off the traditional fly tying to try my hand at some realism... i learn the hard way ...trial and error so hopefully you guys should see a big difference between now and when i actually get them right....started off nice and simple to get the hang of what i was doing.

Brian, looks great from a distance......... but trout know what looks right(ish ) Getting the right materials is a huge biggy !! dubbing, wings, legs etc.. If you are serious in this and your other entry, buy as many books on tying as you can & talk to as many people as you can. Tying is more than a hobby for many...Its a lifestyle ... be prepared!!! you will get addicted!!

been playing round with some beetle patterns, got the basics down (i think) now just to fine tune and i reckon it might be passable. Scuse the poor pictures and bad colours (working with 3 highlighters left at work) but u get the general idea
