As featured by Pete Carty in the latest F&G magazine. Simple, yet very effective. I like the buggy addition the whipped down foam back gives the overall silouhette. I still use hares fur for the body, preferring the buggy appearence of this tried and tested material. Will post a pic tomorrow of this fly, but I think with a little messing around, I could just have a new favourite fly!

Every fly is a favourite fly Chris. It's just that some are more favoured than others!

That flies no good for you Chris... take an extra 1/2 minute to tie in the foam We know how you only like to tie 5 minute flies...

That photo actually turned out pretty damn good! Not bad for just throwing a hook in the vice, and snapping off a shot!! Who needs lightboxes etc ;)

Its crying out for someone to tie a variant and call it the Mexican Moustache or Dirty Sanchez
Anyone??
I haven't read that issue of fish'n game but I'm a bit surprised that that it has the foam tied in there. I thought the idea of the eponymous DHE (and CDC versions) was that the body of the fly hung vertically in the water?

I still believe the sunken abdoman is a key trigger on the emerger pattern. This pattern rides low enough to maybe imitate a later stage of emergence? The day I fished with Pete and Simon, the fish certainly liked this fly, though of course still engulfed the DHE.
Im thinking yellow or orange foam for the back to maybe increase visibility?
Does anyone know where I can buy 'razor foam', or who the manufacturer is?
