Hi guys, just putting together the details. Put your name down on the thread if you're interested.

Directions here:

http://goo.gl/maps/5PnYb

About 2hrs from ChCh. For those heading from the city come off at Aylesbury corner and through hororata, there is a cafe there that does decent pies but you can always go via Darfield and stock up on pies there.

I suggest meet up about 10am, fish through until 3pm at the latest.

If you have a PRS radio set it channel 22.

We need a day of no wind or light southerly for this.

A gorgeous spot. Wish I could be there to see it in its fine winter form. I still recall driving past on the Feb holiday wkd and counting over 70 vehicles, tents, boats, etc, etc camping - including a couple of the biggest boats and RVs we'd seen in NZ. Otherwise surprisingly quite a quiet spot. :)

Winter is the best time to fish it, and it closes at the end of the month. Little or no NW's.

Secret - find a weedbed and cover it with red setters, glo bugs, woolly buggars, Mrs Simpsons on sinking lines or leaders. This is a deep lake, concentrate on the edges and ends, not the middle.

Anyone without a float tube - Steve's got one on special right now.

Hi Jonathan
i would be keen but would need to bum a ride with someone. (Happy to contribute a pie or two and share fuel costs).
Also don't have a flotation devices but more than happy to mooch / wade around the edges casting over the margins.

To help inspire the Lake Selfe trip, caught last Friday on an gold bead egg nymph, 6lbs and in fantastic condition, the picture doesn't do justice to the wonderful colours it has, it's safely back in the lake ready for you tubers to have a crack at it
