Hi all.

I am new to fly fishing and just wondering if you can use standard mono as a backing or is it best to use backing braid?

Also can you use standard mono as a leader or is it best to use fluorocarbon?

Backing braid is best behind fly line, Mono is fine as a leader if thats all you have.
