Being new to New Zealand I have been looking for a good spot to fish. And I found it. The Aronld River and Lake Brunner were full of big fish. Going to Nelson this weekend to look around for some good flyfishing water. Any suggestions?

I'm told the wairau isn't bad, but I fished there last week and my inexperience in rivers meant I came up blank with the fly.
Did manage to spin at the wairau bar and got a nice 6lbish Kahwai.
I think heavy nymphs and a sight indicator are the rule.

Thanks for the info. Just got back. Didn't get a chance to fish. Multiple reasons, no hotel rooms and wife and son won't stay on the beach with me. Try again another day. Off to Lake Brunner tomorrow.
