The extended bodies were formed on a needle first then slide on hook and tied on etc... I got the technique from a book I loaned, "The Fly Tier's Benchside Reference" by Lee Tedson & Jim Schollmeyer... Fantastic book in fact I just this minute made an Amazon purchase of it The quick over view is, put a sewing needle in your vise, wrap on thread, tie in tail fibres, wrap with thread and apply glue, then dub over while glue wet and whip or half hitch... then slide the body off the needle with some sort of flat plier... it took a couple of attempts to get the timing and pressure right to slide them off the needle... I rattled off a couple of dozen then tied the pattern.

Johnno, try comparing fishpond with "the nile.co.nz" Have make some great purchases over the years by playing one off against the other

It is actually plus I got another book at the same time... "Tying Emergers: A Complete Guide" by the same two gentlemen. Couldn't find that on Fishpond....
