Hello all,
I am new to posting on the forum. I've been scouring it for the past few weeks trying to research for my trip to the South Island in a few months. A friend and I will be getting back to Christchurch around the end of february after 5 months in Antarctica with the US Antarctic Program. We plan on fishing for the entire month of March. We are both avid backcountry anglers and seek advice on where to get started. I am very inerested in the fjordlands/ Te Anua area. I've found some great info but figured I would post a general topic regarding info for the backcountry fishing that time of year. Will river flows typically be low that time of year? What is a good resource for trail maps and that type of info? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

March is typically the most settled month generally so flows are often low at that time, just take lots of insert repellant, the sandflies can be mean!
http://www.doc.govt.nz/ have info on tracks/huts etc and in the shop I have the topo maps if you need them
