My wife and I are coming to NZ on April 3, 2011. We will be flying into Auckland from the USA (LAX) I would like to fish my way to the South island and back. Unfortunately we only have one week to stay so probably will need locations close to main roads, easy access and BIG FISH. HAHA. I have contacted a few fellows in Auckland who say they will take a day off work to take me somewhere. I will mostly be fishing by myself tho. Any information will be appreciated. Jim

Good to see you back online Jonathan.
Jim, If you've got a couple of locals in AKL to show you a good time, you won't get much better than that. They should be able to point you to some good water. How come you came all this way for only one week?

The reason for a week is my wife is a school teacher and she has a week off for spring break. We leave on a friday night, land on sunday morning. Leave the following sunday night and arrive LAX sunday noon. Only other time we could come would be month of July. I believe that's the middle of winter there. I am going to push for a week around Rotorua but know she wants to travel. We will just take it one day at a time and see what happens. Jim

Jim
I wouldn’t bother doing North and South it would pretty much the week of driving stick to one or other Islands and one location or come back in the winter and fish the central lakes and connecting rivers and consider the jet lag factor as well
